The majority of students accepted into a School of Earth and Space Exploration research-based graduate program (MS or PhD in Astrophysics, MS or PhD in Geological Sciences and PhD in Exploration Systems Design) are offered financial support for the academic year (August-May) by means of a Graduate Assistant position. Research/Teaching Assistantships are considered for renewal as long as students remain in good standing in the graduate program and satisfy all requirements and obligations of their assistantships.
First-year students (not including ASU Online students) receive advising support in Armstrong Hall.
The majority of the School of Earth and Space Exploration’s admissions are for the fall semester. Spring admissions occur under special circumstances. For full consideration of funding and campus recruitment activities, the following application dates apply. Applications are encouraged before these dates and those received after may be considered at a lower priority for funding:
The School of Earth and Space Exploration does not currently have special admission requirements. If you are accepted into ASU, you may declare one of the School of Earth and Space Exploration majors. Although there are no specific admission requirements for the school, students seeking School of Earth and Space Exploration majors must have strong science and math backgrounds.
The Marston Exploration Theater is Back This Fall!
Join us for an exciting season of astronomy programs - returning on select Saturdays starting the end of August!
The School of Earth and Space Exploration continues to be a resource for science classes from kindergarten through high school. Our science and technology content has been structured for either an in-person experience at the ASU Tempe campus or a virtual visit to classrooms offering online, in-class, or hybrid models.
