Dear Recruiters,
I hope this email finds you well. My name is Mohsen Mostafa, and I am writing to express my keen interest in pursuing PhD research opportunities within the Arizona Space Grant Consortium at the University of Arizona, particularly in the areas of AI-driven planetary science, autonomous systems, and spatiotemporal data modeling.
I have recently developed a research proposal titled “The Geo-LeJEPA Framework: A Provably Robust 4D Foundation Model for NASA Science and Autonomy,”
Research positions are available to work with images from the airglow imager placed in Alaska, and the “Gravity Wave Zoo” citizen science project (see link below). This project aims to understand variability in the near-space environment and satellite low Earth orbit region through the study of atmospheric waves near ~86km in altitude above Earth’s surface. Tasks will include processing images, uploading data on to the citizen science project, and interpreting both images and citizen science results.

This position involves ongoing analysis of airglow images on a weekly basis for uploading to a citizen science project. The student involved with this project has the potential to continue on to further research analyzing the images and citizen science responses/data to help with investigation of atmospheric waves in the near space environment in the polar region. The position can be either in person or remote, and online students are welcome as well as in person students.
The project is to study the spectra of distant objects to identify "invisible" gas disks in foreground galaxies. The project involves data analysis. Basic knowledge of python programming is needed.
