Students must have their SUNCARD or at least their 10 digit affiliate ASU ID number (beginning with 1000 or 1200) and photo ID when meeting with an advisor. If a student is running late or cannot make the scheduled appointment, he/she should notify the advisor with whom the appointment is scheduled ASAP. Students arriving late may be asked to reschedule their appointment.

Walk-in Advising

Walk-in advising is a 10-15 minute check-in with an advisor for items such as making sure your class schedule is correct, doing a graduation check, getting answers for quick questions, having forms signed, or talking about adding a minor.

If you are a prospective ASU student, recently admitted student, have an academic advising hold, or you want to change your major or add a concurrent degree, please use the link above to schedule a full 30-minute appointment.

Barrett Honors students should email Becca Dial (bdial@asu.edu) to set a time to meet.

The walk-in advising calendar is here.

Students should do the following to prepare for an advising appointment:

  • Make sure you know where your appointment is located on campus.
  • Check your Major Map and run your DARS (PDF) report to review your degree requirements.
  • Read the course descriptions and prerequisites for courses before coming to an advising session.
  • Make a list of questions and bring it to the appointment.
  • Make a tentative class schedule if planning to discuss registration.
  • Bring any forms that require advisor review and signatures. This includes items such as SAP reviews, petitions, consortium agreements, etc. The advisor expects that the student will already have filled out his/her portion of these forms. Failure to do so could result in an appointment being rescheduled or a follow-up appointment being needed.
  • Bring paper and a pen to take notes.
