Zhiang Chen is an Exploration Systems Design Ph.D. student at the School of Earth and Space Exploration at the Arizona State University (ASU). He is working with Dr. Jnaneshwar Das at Distributed Robotic Exploration and Mapping Systems (DREAMS) Laboratory. Zhiang's research focuses on machine learning, collaborative robotic exploration systems, and geomorphologically semantic mapping. Prior to joining ASU, he completed B.Eng. in Mechatronics at the Central South University (China) and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio). During his Master's study, he worked with Dr. Wyatt Newman and researched on algorithmic robotics and deep learning, with a final thesis on deep learning approaches to graspable object recognition.
