Biography

Burnham is a public information officer, web-content manager, and science writer at the Mars Space Flight Facility, part of the School of Earth and Space Exploration, at Arizona State University.
 
At three separate times, he has been an editor at Astronomy magazine (1978-1986, 1988-1996, and 2003-5). He has also written and edited a number of books on astronomy, space, and earth science for a general public audience — see the links below.

(The author of Burnham's Celestial Handbook was Robert Burnham Jr., no relation.)
