The ASU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a highly accomplished scholar to serve as a strategic and administrative leader in the position of Director of the School of Earth and Space Exploration (SESE). Appointment will be located on the Tempe campus with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2019.
Reporting to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences through the Dean of Natural Sciences, the Director will provide leadership, vision, and the capacity to engage faculty across a range of disciplines, while sustaining a culture of collaboration both within and beyond the School, strengthening links with other academic units at ASU, and with the wider community. The Director will also provide strong leadership in fiscal planning and administration, development and donor relations, the promotion of scholarship and external funding, the development/implementation of strategic diversity initiatives related to faculty, staff and/or students.
SESE is among ASU's most accomplished units (http://sese.asu.edu), and is home to a dynamic and interdisciplinary faculty committed to high-impact scientific research and discovery in Earth, planetary, and astrophysical sciences; practical and meaningful undergraduate (in-person and online) and graduate education programs; and inspirational public engagement activities. A particularly important aspect of the culture of SESE is the commitment to collegiality, transparency, and inclusiveness that SESE members have worked hard to develop, nurture, and maintain since the unit was founded over a decade ago.
