Activities and Events

SESE strives to help others grow in science by offering a variety of programs and events. Explore some of our recent activities and events listed below:

The World at Night: SESE participated in the kick off to the World at Night photo exhibit by offering a variety of hands-on activities. Visit us on Facebook to see photos from the event

 

LRO Live: Outreach members of LROC (short for Lunar Reconnaisance Oribter Camera) wanted to engage students and the public in the LRO mission so they collected questions about lunar exploration from students and then traveled to Kennedy Space Center to conduct interviews with expert members of the LRO Science Team to get answers. The International Year of Astronomy (IYA): IYA 2009 was a global celebration of astronomy and its contributions to society and culture, marking the 400th anniversary of the first use of an astronomical telescope by Galileo Galilei.  SESE  partnered with science organizations around the globe in addition to holding its own activities.

 

The Origins Symposium: The Origins Symposium inaugurated the new Origins Initiative at ASU, which will be a University-wide transdisciplinary endeavor supporting research building on key areas of strength at ASU including: the origin of the universe, origins of stars and planet, the origins of life, human origins, origins of consciousness and culture. 

 

American Geophysical Union (AGU): Many from the SESE community participated at AGU and attended the SESE AGU reception. Read more
