About Jeff Roberts
Jeffery J. Roberts, is currently the Deputy Division Leader for Science and Technology in the Atmosphere, Earth, and Energy Division (AEED) at Lawrence Livermore Natijnal Laboratories. He is responsible for hundreds of scientists engaged in fundamental and applied research directed toward solving our nation's energy needs. Jeff worked on a Mineral Physics Ph.D. (1992) with Jim Tyburczy, then moved to Lawrence Livermore National Labs. There, he used his fundamental research skills to study a wide diversity of problems including issues related to geothermal energy, oil recovery, defect properties of minerals, distribution of carbon in the Earth's crust, textures of liquid metal-silicate materials and implications for the Earth's core, novel solid state materials for high energy particle detection, textures of volcanic pumice and their meaning for explosive volcanic eruptions, and many other topics. He is a scientist of great versatility.
As an alumn of ASU, he also was one of the dedicated individuals who formulated and supported for many years the Geoscience Alumni Scholarship that helped support Geology and SESE students. Jeff also produces wine and has his own wine label - Entropy Cellars.
