About Grady Price Blount

Grady Price Blount is Dean of the College of Science, Engineering and Agriculture at Texas A&M University-Commerce. After graduation from ASU, Blount became a founding faculty member for the nascent Space Studies program at the University of North Dakota. That program, now, is the largest graduate program in the state. Returning to his native Texas in 1993, Blount worked through the ranks at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, eventually serving as Assistant Vice President for Research and Associate Graduate Dean there. He completed a three-year NASA JOVE fellowship in the mid-1990’s and participated in the creation of several new graduate programs in the sciences. He served previously as a member of the International Consultative Committee on Space Data Systems and was appointed by former Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt as a founding member of the National Advisory Committee for the National Satellite Land Remote Sensing Data Archive (EROS) and as liaison to the Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Committee. Blount continues to be an advocate for science education initiatives.  He serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Space Grant Consortium.  He was a member of the Hallmarks of Excellence Task Force for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and served as a delegate in the American Democracy Project. He has generated over $25M in extramural funding, mostly in support of science education and outreach projects. In 2005 he completed the graduate Management Development Program at Harvard University.
