![]() Assistant Professor
Ph.D., University of Washington, 1998 |
Hilairy Hartnett conducts research in biogeochemistry, focusing on how geochemical, microbial, and anthropogenic processes affect elemental cycles in environments that range from arid terrestrial systems, to rivers and lakes, to marine sediments. She uses both experimental fieldwork and cutting-edge analytical techniques to investigate the transfer of elements (particularly carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorous) and energy between different geological pools.
